Root Canals

Root canal procedures treat diseases of the dental pulp. They allow us to save natural teeth that would otherwise be lost to extraction. Root canal procedures are performed using local anesthetics (numbing agents) similar to those used for fillings or crowns. Procedure discomfort is typically minimal and is confined to the administration of the local anesthetic.

As an endodontic specialist, Dr. Brandys is well versed in the use of anesthetics. Though we routinely deal with patients in significant pain, Dr. Brandys has multiple techniques to anesthetize the affected area to alleviate your discomfort. Rest assured we will do everything possible to make you comfortable for your procedure. In fact, we often have patients fall asleep while they are receiving treatment.

Although the vast majority of our procedures are comfortably performed with local anesthetics alone, we do offer the option of nitrous oxide or deeper sedation (IV or general anesthesia) for patients that require it.
